1 Role

The Program and Policy Review Committee is responsible to Academic Board for assuring the standard, coherence and relevance of the Universitys academic policies and the accreditation and academic standard of coursework awards. The Committee shall also provide advice and recommendations as required to the Vice-Chancellor on any management-related academic program or policy issue.

2 Function

The functions of the Program and Policy Review Committee are to:

  1. consider submissions for accreditation of new coursework academic programs, reaccreditation of existing coursework academic programs and validation of non-award and enabling programs and make recommendations regarding their approval on academic grounds to the Academic Board;

  2. develop policies, regulations and guidelines relevant to coursework awards;

  3. monitor program reviews and revisions conducted by Faculties;

  4. initiate, review and monitor compliance with the academic policies and procedures of the University, and oversee their implementation; and

  5. receive, consider and respond to reports from Faculty Boards and the Faculty Program Management Committee in relation to quality improvements in academic programs.

3 Membership

3.1 Membership

The membership of the Program and Policy Review Committee shall be:

  1. Deputy Chair, Academic Board (Chairperson)

  2. Three persons elected by and from the Academic Board

  3. Associate Dean (Academic) from each Faculty

  4. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Learning, Teaching and Quality) or nominee

  5. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Communities) or nominee

  6. One elected student from a coursework program
