1 Role
The Multicultural and Transnational Advisory Committee role is to advise the University on multicultural and transnational issues, to promote USQ as a multicultural and transnational University in all internal and external dealings and to provide a forum for discussing multicultural and transnational matters. The Committee has a particular role in considering the interests of students and staff from non-English speaking backgrounds and from different cultures and traditions.
2 Functions
The functions of the Multicultural and Transnational Advisory Committee shall be:
to advise the University on multicultural matters;
to promote USQ as a multicultural and transnational University;
to provide University-wide forum to discuss multicultural and transnational issues;
to assist the University in development and implementation of its unique USQ Multicultural Policy;
to assist in developing the concept of transnational University and to undertake appropriate activities in this regard;
to develop and implement the University’s mission and vision statements in relation to multiculturalism and transnational education;
to ensure the University’s involvement in community events and developments associated with multiculturalism;
to develop specific programs appropriate for the University and broader community in the area of multiculturalism;
to assist in maximising the benefits of multiculturalism on campus and in the broader community;
to consider special needs of students and staff from non-English speaking backgrounds; and
to consider University's duty of care in relation to USQ international students.
3 Meetings
3.1 Frequency of Meetings
The Committee shall meet five times per year.

4.1 Membership
The membership of the Multicultural and Transnational Advisory Committee shall be:
Director, USQ Multicultural Centre (Chair)
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Social Justice)
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Management) or nominee
Director, Open Access College
Chair, Multicultural Staff Network (or nominee)
President, Multicultural & Multilingual Student Association
Staff Equity Officer
International Recruitment Manager
Manager, Student Equity & Disability
Two members of academic staff nominated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Social Justice)
Two representatives from the international student body nominated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Management)
One non-English Speaking Background (NESB) student recommended by the Multicultural & Multilingual Students Association
Manager, Multicultural Centre (Executive Officer and Secretary)
The Committee shall have the power to co-opt.
