1 Functions

The Faculty Board shall provide advice to the Dean on the following matters:

  1. planning, implementation and review of the Faculty's academic program;

  2. human resource matters;

  3. financial and physical resource matters;

  4. research management matters;

  5. the establishment of task groups to assist in the performance of the Board's duties; and

  6. reports containing recommendations and advice from the Facultys committees.

2 Membership

2.1 Membership

The membership of the Faculty Board shall be determined by the Dean but shall include, as a minimum:

  1. the Dean (Chairperson)

  2. Associate Dean (Academic)

  3. Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching)

  4. Associate Dean (Research)

  5. International Coordinator (or equivalent) where applicable

  6. Fraser Coast Associate Director (or equivalent)

  7. Springfield Associate Director (or equivalent)

  8. Heads of School (or equivalent)

  9. Faculty Administration Manager (or equivalent)

  10. Two academic staff members from the Faculty elected by and from the academic staff of the Faculty

  11. One general staff member of the Faculty elected by and from the general staff of the Faculty

  12. One student member elected by and from the students enrolled in programs offered by the Faculty.

The Dean may invite other persons from the Faculty or from such other sections of the University to attend meetings of the Board, as may be necessary from time to time.

The elected members shall hold office for two calendar years and shall be eligible for re-election. Elections shall be conducted by the Faculty Administration Manager or such other person appointed by the Dean.

The Faculty Administration Manager or such other person appointed by the Dean shall be the Secretary of the Board.

3 General

Procedures governing the operation of the Faculty Board are described in Faculty Committee Procedures and General Matters.

In the event that the Dean declines to accept or act upon the advice of the Faculty Board, the Faculty Board may, following a special meeting to consider the situation, refer the matter to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor for resolution.
